COQUITLAM HC

Take Your Development to the Next Level

Welcome to Coquitlam HC

Coquitlam HC is a proud hub of the Junior Prospect Hockey League (JPHL) boasting 14U, 15U, 17U and 18U teams. As a part of the JPHL, Coquitlam HC is committed to providing an elite development pathway for student-athletes, combining top-level hockey training with academic excellence.

Coquitlam HC is a direct affiliate and partner of the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Coquitlam Express and follows the same guidelines players use to become functionable student-athletes—giving them the exposure of the junior hockey lifestyle with junior-level facilities, coaching, and support staff while also continuing to excel in the classroom.

To empower young athletes to develop as complete individuals: on the ice, in the classroom and in everyday life.

A Development Model Built for Today’s Student-Athlete

The JPHL offers an academy-style structure that prioritizes both high-performance hockey and academic success. Its schedule, training model, and support systems are designed to help athletes grow without compromising their education.

Exposure to the Next Level

With league-wide broadcasting, showcase events, and consistent competition against top programs, the JPHL gives Coquitlam HC players meaningful visibility with junior, collegiate, and professional scouts.

A Balanced, Athlete-Centered Schedule

The JPHL’s reduced travel demands and weekend-focused competition calendar allow players to train more, recover better, and stay engaged in the classroom — a perfect fit for our student-athlete philosophy.

Alignment With Junior Hockey Standards

The league mirrors the expectations and environment of junior hockey, preparing athletes for the BCHL and beyond. This includes professional coaching, structured development plans, and access to high-level facilities.

A League That Shares Our Values

The JPHL’s commitment to safety, development, and long-term athlete success aligns directly with Coquitlam HC’s mission: to build confident, capable, academically strong young people through the sport they love.

Coquitlam HC offers a comprehensive 9-month development (Sept–May) program tailored to elevate student-athletes’ skills, knowledge, and performance. With a focus on holistic growth, we prepare players for the demands of elite hockey and beyond.

Athletes will train a minimum of four times per week, featuring back-to-back ice and gym sessions on the same day two to three times a week. This holistic approach builds strength, endurance, and skill while fostering both mental and physical development.

Athletes play a minimum of 30 league games as well as an in-season tournament and a playoff series.

Our program includes 2–3 hours per week of off-ice strength and conditioning at the Express Performance Centre, led by our dedicated Strength & Conditioning Coach, Grayson Mandzuik.

The Express Performance Centre is a fully equipped training environment built to support the strength, conditioning, and recovery needs of our student-athletes. With access to free weights, cardio machines, resistance equipment, and functional training zones, players have everything they need to train year-round. This setup allows for personalized programs, structured team sessions, and efficient recovery routines—all guided by our experienced performance staff.
